Road Construction Massachusetts Avenue/Route 111

Week of November 20th


The Rte. 111 underground culvert replacement project is completed. The roadway is now OPEN.

National Grid will be working on the gas line portion of this project in the upcoming weeks. Rte. 111 will be down to one lane of alternating traffic while this is underway.   




The Rte. 111 culvert project is proceeding on schedule. All of the underground drainage work has been completed and is awaiting pavement and cleanup. The roadway should reopen by 5:00 AM tomorrow (Monday) or sooner.

National Grid has scheduled detail officers for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday to work on the gas line portion of this project. Rte. 111 will be down to one lane of alternating traffic while this is underway.  



The Massachusetts Department of Transportation will be replacing drainage culverts on Massachusetts Avenue (Route 111). The project has started and will run this weekend November 17th.

Massachusetts Ave. is CLOSED between the Fire Department and the Sargent Memorial Library. As of Saturday at 4:30 PM the project is ahead of schedule and Mass. Ave, should be open by Monday. Please continue to check this website for updates.

Traffic will be detoured around this closure by way of Stow and Burroughs Roads. Residents on these roads should expect high a volume of traffic during this weekend.

Residents and businesses that fall inside of the detour areas will be able access these locations from their closest detour location see attached map.
