Mission Statement
The Department of Public Works’ (DPW) mission is to provide the residents of Boxborough with quality Town services, including:
- Building and grounds maintenance
- Cemetery maintenance
- Safe roadways year-round
- Solid waste disposal and recycling at the Transfer Station
Responsibilities
The Town of Boxborough Department of Public Works is responsible for:
- Maintenance of the Town’s roadway system
- Providing snow and ice control
- Roadside tree maintenance and removal
- Transfer/Recycling center
- Maintenance of buildings and grounds owned by the Town
- Other various programs involved in the maintenance and upkeep of existing roads, public grounds, and athletic fields
State Roads in Boxborough
The major highways in Boxborough (Routes 111 and 2, and Interstate 495) are under the jurisdiction of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) Highway Division. Cemetery
Under the direction of the Cemetery Commission, the Director of Public Works is also responsible for the operation of North Cemetery on Hill Road and South Cemetery at the corner of Burroughs and Stow Roads. The DPW Director/Cemetery Superintendent oversees the sale of cemetery plots and the scheduling of interments (South Cemetery only). For more information visit the Cemetery Commission Page.
