The Boxborough Fire Department’s mission is to:

  • Mitigate the consequences that natural and man-made disasters would have on life, property and the environment
  • Prevent and minimize the loss of life and property from fire
  • Provide Emergency Medical Services
  • Provide fire prevention services and public education programs through non-emergency support activities

Operations

The Boxborough Fire Department protects the Town of Boxborough, Massachusetts operating out of one station providing fire and emergency medical services to 5,241 residents in a 10 square mile area. In addition, the Department covers seven miles of Route 495 North and South between Exit 27 and Exit 29. The Department provides coverage 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in a mixed staffing structure.

Staff

The Department employs:

  • 1 Full-Time Chief
  • 1 Full-Time Captain/EMT
  • 1 Per Diem Captain/EMT
  • 1 Full-Time Lieutenant/EMT
  • 1 Per Diem Lieutenant/EMT
  • 5 Full-Time Firefighter/EMTs
  • 21 Per Diem Firefighter/EMTs
  • 3 Call Firefighter

The station is manned between the hours of 7 am and 5 pm. Monday through Friday by:

  • Chief
  • Full-Time Captain
  • 1 or 2 Full-Time Firefighter/EMTs
  • 1 or 2 Per Diem Firefighter/EMTs

The station is also each night and on weekend days staffed by:

  • 1 or 2 Full-Time Firefighter/EMT
  • 1 or 2 Per Diem Firefighter/EMT

The Department owns:

  • 1 Hose Wagon
  • 1 Basic Life support (BLS) Ambulance
  • 1 Brush Truck
  • 1 Decontamination Trailer
  • 1 Hazardous Materials Trailer
  • 1 Tender
  • 2 Sport Utility Command Vehicle
  • 3 Class A Pumpers
