Engine 68 was a back-up brush truck and was second due to any brush fire. It carried 250 gallons of water and multiple hose reels. It also carried basic brush fire overhauling supplies.
Engine 68 was originally acquired as an Army surplus vehicle and the truck (including the pump) was built and retrofitted by a few members of the department.
